Yoga teaches self-love and compassion for all beings, regardless of color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, regardless of ANYTHING external. Yoga is about cultivating a sense of inner trust within your strength. Yoga is something that anyone, anywhere can do. Yoga empowers me and so many people I have met to life their best life and focus on the wonderful healing power their body holds both physically and mentally. In Cape Town this practice became the epicenter of my life.

Although many people seem to be under the impression that yoga and meditation are simply techniques used to stretch and relax, evidence-based research shows that these techniques can ACTUALLY re-wire our brains and completely transform our lives and world, which is something that seems to be of the utmost importance right now with all that is going on in the world. Humanity is in deep need of worldwide healing and change. We cannot continue to be astounded by acts of violence if we do not do something about the underlying causes of our acts of inhumanity. We cannot continue to just bandage up our wounds. We truly need to place a focus on preventative, holistic care and that care can begin with ourselves. The only way to prevent more tragedies from transpiring is through changes in the emotional climate of our society—from one of stress, competition, and blame, to one of true compassion, genuine kindness and peacefulness. One way to actually achieve those intentions is through the healing practice of yoga and meditation!

My wonderful best friends has the pleasure of being a part of an organization called the Earthchild Project. It brings yoga and wellness to children living in townships. Though the Earthchild Project is in 8 schools and has impacted over 2,500 children, most of these kids don’t even have a mat to practice on. The Earthchild Project’s most pressing issue is simple – they need to get yoga mats to the kids. Earthchild's growth is stunted by their limited number of yoga mats, and even when children have access to yoga mats, they are in extremely terrible condition. The cost of one mat is R135, less than $10. My friends and I are looking to raise just a little over $1330 in order to provide these amazing children with their own mats, to help support the continued expansion of this amazing non-profit organization into MORE schools, and start changing what education is really about.

And if you don't believe me yet, watch the video below that's been made with so much love.

Please consider helping us spread the love to make this a reality.

Any amount helps. Even $1 will absolutely make a difference. Providing a yoga mat might seem insignificant, BUT it is something tangible that these children will have to hold onto for years to come. It has been inspiring seeing this practice bring so much joy to these children and affect their lives in such a profoundly positive way.
