Healthy, organic eating is a huge part of the culture in Cape Town, as I have previously mentioned. Health café’s and the embodiment of the wellness lifestyle, that I love all too well, is easily accessible.
I have been venturing to this heaven of a restaurant located in down town Cape Town, called Sexy Food. The energy it gives off, the people, the ambiance, the message: everything about it makes me want to relish in it’s being.
This is the description:
WHERE ANCIENT METHODS MEET MODERN MINDS
Sexyfood is the Nelson Mandela of Modern Day Eating Habits: A Lifestyle of MultiFood Culture.
It's where Herbivore and Carnivore meet for lunch, where eco-awareness exists behind every food choice. It’s a flexible mindset measuring ingredients that work best for individual.
THINK: DIGESTIVE, BLISS, HEALTHY ATTITUDE, FULL CIRCLE, ZERO WASTE AND THE RIGHT TO FEEL SEXY.
If you don't recognize the ingredients or feel good about the way it was prepared, neither will your stomach or metabolism. You might be an eat-everything kind of person, animal eater, vegetarian, pescatarian, vegan, fruitarian, breatharian, but the real deal is the conversation you have with your body. Listening to the body is key when mastering the sexy food lifestyle.
LEARN TO LOVE THE PLANT KINGDOM AND EMPHASIZE FOOD THAT IS FRESH AND ALIVE. BE AT THE PLACE WHERE BUSHMAN AND BUSINESS COME TOGETHER AND CONTRIBUTE TO A NUTRITIONALLY NET-POSITIVE VIBE.
CELEBRATE THE COSMIC JOURNEY OF THIS SEXY FOOD FEEL GOOD EVOLUTION
Mission:
The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.
It is a culture here at this place. Sexy Food creates this community of likeminded people coming together to share in the value of healthy holistic eating to feel good about their body and live a better life. It’s not in a mainstream kind of way though. It’s in a way that is true in its true sense of true. Its real. People will sit down next to each other and talk. They mindfully eat. They want to know about you and connect, which I think is something that’s unique and special to Cape Town.

My friend Elli and I decided we are going to make a mini documentary called “Humans of Cape Town.” It entails simply documenting interesting people, learning part of their story and understanding a bit about what makes them feel whole.
We interviewed the owner of Sexy Food, a man named James Kuiper. His philosophy on food and living is one that focuses on listening to your own body and its individual needs, rather than prescribing to a one-size-fits-all approach. His beliefs combine connecting with nature and consuming consciously to better yourself. He began this journey of Sexy Food after he was diagnosed with cancer and learned quickly that connecting with the food that you consume can make an immeasurable difference into your quality of life. After he got healthy he made it his life and did his best to stray away from modern medicine as he felt like the effects it had on his body did more harm than good. He shared with us that everything you do in terms of your physical and mental relationship with yourself and others is all how you approach it, with love.
